ஆசிரியருக்காக ஒரு மலர்க்கொத்து! ( A Flower Bunch for Aasiriyar! )

Teachers' Day is looming nearer and nearer.. My Pri 2 pupils are so sweet, .. well mostly anyway. They asked me : ஆசிரியர்! ஆசிரியர்! உங்களுக்கு Teachers' Day-கு என்ன வேணும் ஆசிரியர்?? ( Teacher! Teacher ! What do you want for Teachers' Day?

I replied: ஒன்றும் வேணாம்பா! ( I dont want anything, dear! )

There was an outrage in the Pri 2 class that day. They insisted that i MUST receive something from them for Teachers' Day. So in turn, I told them that I will only accept a card that they themselves made or drew for me, or a simple flower they picked on the way to school, or a red pen so that I could mark their worksheets with.

The following day, Naesan gave me a pink highlighter that was 1/3 used up. Roobhan gave me a blue white board marker and Avinash... well what can I say about Avinash.

Avinash came up to me smiling shyly and suddenly held his hand out very close to my face. It was so close that I could not gauge what exactly it was that he held out to me.

He said : ஆசிரியர், இது நான் உங்களுக்காகக் கொண்டு வந்த மலர்க்கொத்து. ( Teacher, this is the flower bunch that I have brought for you.)

Below is a picture of the flower bunch Avinash had given me.... I dont know about many people's standards, but to me it is incredibly sweet, and thoughtful.
