The Singapore Botanical Gardens has been awarded the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the 39th UNESCO meet in Bonn this year. What a proud moment it is for most Singaporeans, well... at least for me.. I had worked in the NParks for 5 weeks, you know? It was the absolute best time of my life, and not even working in IFP, Pondicherry could come close, though initially I thought that it would happen the other way around... It was Pondicherry, after all. But no.. I had found immense happiness in my own backyard. NParks is indeed a great place to work in... I admit that the pay is LOUSY. I would probably get paid maybe half of what I earn now... and the working hours are so long! ( 8 am - 6 pm ) On top of this, one would need to beat the MRT rush in the early morning, packed as tight as sardines and reach the Botanical Gardens MRT by 745 am so that one could make the steep upward hike to the NParks headquarters to be on time.
